SWOP Chicago Legal Clinic

SWOP Chicago partners with Beyond Legal Aid to offer free, full legal service for individuals currently or previously involved in adult industries or impacted by the stigma and criminalization of sex work.

We can provide full legal representation for Illinois residents with legal issues in Illinois

The legal clinic provides free legal services to:

  • Individuals who have been profiled as sex workers or adult workers (by police, employers, landlords, or other entities)

  • Individuals who are involved or who were formerly involved in sex work or adult work, including:

    • Working as an escort, dancing in a strip club, webcam modeling, phone sex, sensual massage, engaging in fetish or pro-dom/pro-sub work, acting in adult film or nude modeling; and/or

    • Engaging in dating, relationships, sexual activities, or intimacy with someone for money, housing, gifts, drugs, or other things; and/or

    • Relying on someone you’re intimate with someone for money, housing, gifts, drugs, or other things.

  • Individuals age 26 and younger who have been homeless or have relied on crashing with friends for housing within the last 12 months.

  • Individuals who identify as transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming.

  • Individuals living with HIV

Our Services

Our clinic covers a wide range of services, including other areas of civil law. If you are unsure of what services you need, feel free to complete an intake form.

  • Criminal records such as expungement, sealing, vacating convictions, police misconduct

  • Divorce, child custody, child support, DCFS

  • Eviction, security deposits, vouchers

  • Food stamps, medical card, SSI & SSD

  • Discrimination, overtime, minimum wage, unemployment benefits
